3-((Bis(benzyloxy)phosphoryl)oxy)propane-1,2-diyl distearate is a protected phospholipid precursor with two saturated C18 chains, giving it solid-state behavior and strong hydrophobic ordering. The bis(benzyloxy) phosphate allows precise synthetic manipulation before final deprotection. The compound is a precursor to distearoyl phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, or other glycerophospholipids after deprotection and further coupling and is used in controlled stepwise synthesis where the phosphate must remain protected until the final stages.
